A DIFFERENT WAY OF SEEING PERFORMANCE

What are we missing when we look only at performance?

Tony D’Avino

THE PERSPECTIVE

Work Reframe grew from a question I’ve carried through much of my career: What are we missing when we look only at performance?

My thinking has been deeply influenced by Tim Gallwey and The Inner Game of Work — particularly the idea that performance is shaped not only by skill and effort, but by what is happening within the person doing the work.

I am a Certified Methodology Facilitator with The Inner Game Institute, an organization that has spent more than 50 years helping companies, teams, and individuals optimize performance.

That work taught me the value of awareness before intervention: seeing more clearly what is actually happening before trying to improve it.

Work Reframe builds on that perspective and applies it to the experience of work.

CORE PRINCIPLES

Core Principles of Work Reframe™

These principles reflect how people experience work and how sustainable performance actually takes shape. They are grounded in the Work Frame™ model and its core drivers — Performance, Learning, and Enjoyment.

01

Conditions Shape Potential

The real engine of performance is the internal condition of the person doing the work — their clarity, confidence, energy, and sense of meaning. When these conditions are healthy, potential rises and performance naturally follows.

02

Awareness Is the Accelerator

Progress begins with clarity. When people understand how their work is functioning, patterns of friction and energy loss become visible — and meaningful change becomes possible.

03

Balance Drives Sustainability

Sustainable work happens when Performance, Learning, and Enjoyment are in sync. When they drift apart, Work Drift™ emerges and momentum quietly stalls.

04

Small Shifts Create Big Momentum

Meaningful improvement rarely comes from sweeping changes. It comes from small, targeted adjustments that reduce drag, restore clarity, and rebuild energy.

05

People Lead Their Own Engagement

Engagement isn’t handed down by managers. It grows from within when individuals understand their Work Frame™ and take responsibility for shaping their own experience.

Performance tells us what is happening. The experience of work can tell us something about whether it can continue.

That is the work behind Work Reframe.
